BUTLER - BOE schedules vote for new superintendent

(by Stephen Janoski - Staff Writer - August 06, 2008)

BUTLER - The Board of Education has scheduled a public session meeting on Thursday, Aug. 7, at 7 p.m. in the Butler High School library, and is expected to appoint a new superintendent of schools.

Elaine Baldwin has been temporarily filling the position abdicated by Dr. Rene Rovtar on June 30. Rovtar left to become superintendent of the Long Hill School District.

Since Rovtar’s departure, the board has been searching for a suitable replacement. Last month, the board announced it had narrowed the search to three candidates. Several weeks have passed since then, and the board appears ready to announce its decision.

“We think we have a wonderful candidate who will fit in Butler well. We’re in a good place right now, and we’d like to continue that… and the candidate has some good ideas (for the future),” said Board President Rosemarie Lakawicz.

The new superintendent will be at the meeting and available for comments during the public session. Members of the public are encouraged to attend.
