BUTLER - Fund begun for Walek family
BUTLER - A trust fund has been established for those who would like to donate money to help the family of Stacey Walek, the mother of eight who was found dead in May.
Those who want to help can make checks out to the Walek Family Trust, Inc., c/o Lakeland Bank, 6 Carey Avenue, Butler, NJ 07405. A family friend who is helping with the fund said that the lawyer is in the last stages of setting up the fund and the bank is already holding checks.
Walek’s body was found on May 4 in a wooded area off of Farmingdale Road in Wayne. She was found near the Regency House Hotel in Pompton Plains, which she checked into on March 19.
Walek was reported missing on March 20. Her family last saw her March 19 before she left for work at Alure Hair Designs in Pompton Plains. After work, Walek checked into the Regency House Hotel, where the staff was the last to see her.
At the time of her disappearance, authorities said that Walek was without needed medication.
Friends and co-workers described Walek as a self-less wife and mother who would have done anything for her eight children.
