BUTLER - Police Blotter - 5/18/2008

BUTLER
Alleged drunken driving
An underage Butler man was charged with driving while intoxicated after police stopped him for not having license plates on his vehicle, Capt. Jay Dean said.

On April 26 at 4:38 a.m., while on routine patrol, police saw a vehicle traveling on Main Street without visible license plates. After stopping the vehicle, police soon came to suspect that the driver, Peter Fusco, 20, of Butler, was intoxicated, so they had him perform field sobriety tests.

Fusco was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving and improper display of license plates. He was taken to headquarters where he was processed and then release from custody.

Patrolman Jorge Reyes was the arresting officer and Sgt. Michael Moeller and Patrolman Jarred Schmiedhauser assisted.

Disorderly conduct charged
Four teens said to be looking for someone at the wrong house were charged with disorderly conduct after harassing a Haber Court resident, Capt. Jay Dean said.

Police responded to the resident’s call on April 26 at 10:49 p.m. and were told that the subjects had already left the premises in a red Jeep-type vehicle.

The resident told police that four males had come to his residence looking for someone who does not live there. According to police, one of them may have urinated on the garage door.

The resident called police again a few hours later at 2:23 a.m. He said that the quartet had returned to the area and one had thrown a beer bottle through a window and then left again in the red Jeep-type vehicle, Capt. Dean said.

Police found the vehicle in the area and took them back to the Haber Court home so that the resident could identify them.

According to police, Joseph Cupo, 18, of Wayne, was arrested for disorderly conduct and criminal mischief, and Daniel Collins, 18, of North Haledon, Michael Aielos, 19, of West Paterson, and one 17-year-old juvenile were arrested for disorderly conduct.

All four were brought to headquarters where they were processed and then released.

Patrolman Jarred Schmiedhauser was the arresting officer with assistance from Patrolman Jorge Reyes and Riverdale, Bloomingdale and Kinnelon police departments.

Purse stolen
A customer of Lowes on Route 23 north reported her purse stolen after she left it unattended, Capt. Jay Dean said.

On May 1 at 8:33 p.m., police took a report from the female shopper, who said she had put her purse down on a lawn swing while shopping. When she returned about 15 minutes later, the purse was gone.

According to police, the purse contained cash, credit cards and a checkbook.

Investigating officer was Patrolman Jarred Schmiedhauser with assistance from Patrolman Richard Stoll.
