WANAQUE - $100K sewer project to begin on Gorge Drive

(by Teresa Edmond - Staff Writer - October 20, 2008)

WANAQUE - The Wanaque Borough Sewerage Authority (WBSA) awarded a contract to a Florham Park-based company to extend sewers on Gorge Drive. The project would eliminate a small sewage pumping station.

Engineer William Kelly of W.J. Kelly Engineering Associates in Riverdale announced the awarding of the $93,675 project to the lowest bidder, Jogi Construction Inc., at WBSA’s Oct. 14 meeting.

The project will involve two phases. Phase I will start in a month and wrap up this spring. There is no set date to solicit construction bids for Phase II or timetable for this work to begin.

The Gorge Drive project first went out to bid last July at a time when the project’s total cost was $270,241. But because of high prices, the authority rejected all the bids, broke down the project into two phases and went out to bid again. Ten companies replied the second time around.
