WANAQUE- Redevelopment plans on agenda

(by Teresa Edmond - Staff Writer - October 14, 2008)
WANAQUE - The Planning Board will address whether proposed areas throughout the borough would be suitable for redevelopment.

The Planning Board will hold a public hearing on this matter at Borough Hall on Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. A map of the proposed areas will be made available at the meeting.

The Moonachie-based redevelopment consultant Benecke Economics drew up an Oct. 6 redevelopment study for the borough. According to the document, the Planning Board should recommend to the Borough Council about coming up with a redevelopment plan in accordance with state law.

Proposed areas are some sections of Ringwood Avenue that include Borough Hall, the Rhinesmith Property, and the former U.S. Aluminum industrial site on Fourth Avenue.

Interested residents may either pick up a copy from Borough Hall or look at it on the borough’s Web site, wanaqueborough.com. The map of the intended sections for redevelopment and a Borough Council’s resolution laying down the investigation’s basis are also available at Borough Hall.
