WEST MILFORD - Heroin dealing alleged
(by Rebecca Scanlon - News Editor - October 08, 2008)
WEST MILFORD - Two Vernon residents racked up multiple drug charges on Oct. 2 when, according to police, they were found in possession of two dozen packets of heroin intended for sale.
George Bark and Tracey Renner, both 20, were charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of heroin, possession of cocaine and possession of Suboxone, a prescription drug. If found guilty of these third-degree charges, they each face up to 20 years in prison and up to $30,000 in fines, police said.
The charges stem from the suspects’ Oct. 2 arrest after Officer Shannon Sommerville noticed their vehicle parked next to Northeast Concrete on Burnt Meadow Road, which was closed at the time around 7:40 p.m.
Sommerville noticed that the occupants were acting suspiciously, so he approached the vehicle, but it drove off. The officer then stopped the vehicle on Marshall Hill Road and found Bark and Renner allegedly in possession of 24 packets of heroin, a small quantity of cocaine and a small quantity of Suboxone.
Bark and Renner allegedly told police that they had bought the heroin and cocaine in Newark earlier that evening and were planning to sell it in West Milford, where they previously lived.
Bark and Renner were released on summonses. An initial appearance in Municipal Court was scheduled for Oct. 16.
