WEST MILFORD - Marijuana plants found in forest
(by Rebecca Scanlon - News Editor - October 06, 2008)
WEST MILFORD - Following a tip, police found several 6-foot-tall marijuana plants in Abram S. Hewitt State Forest on Oct. 2 that when dried would have yielded several pounds of marijuana.
The large plants were well cared for and it appeared that several other plants had already been removed from a clearing in the Upper Greenwood Lake section of the township near the New York border, police said.
Police are asking locals who hike through the woodland to be on the lookout for marijuana plants. Late September and early October is the harvest time for marijuana.
Anyone who finds marijuana plants is asked to contact the West Milford Police Department at 973-728-2802. All reports will remain anonymous.
