Donald Botbyl
WANAQUE — Services were held for Donald Botbyl, 82, of Lantana, Fla., who died on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008. He was a former resident of this community.
Born in Haledon, Mr. Botbyl lived in the Haskell neighborhood of Wanaque before moving to Lantana 17 years ago. He was a union bricklayer foreman for Mahieu Construction, Paterson, where he worked for 50 years before retiring in 1988. Also, he was a parishioner of St. Francis R.C. Church, Haskell. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Haledon American League as well.
Services were Saturday at D’Agostino Funeral Home, Haskell, followed by mass at St. Francis R.C. Church. Interment was at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa.
Mr. Botbyl is survived by his wife, the former Florence McDaniels; his son, Donald, of Westbrookville, N.Y.; his daughter, Kathryn D’Amerlio, of North Haledon; his brothers, Jack, Patrick, Eugene, and Howard; his sister, Marion Pulis; and four grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Richard, William, and Gerald; and his sister, Kathleen Pinand.
Catherine Murphy
WEST MILFORD — Services were held for Catherine M. Murphy, 88, of this township, who died on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008.
She was born in Paterson. Also, she was a dietician for PSE&G, Newark, before retiring.
Services were Saturday at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, West Milford. Arrangements were by Richards Funeral Home, West Milford.
She is survived by her nephew, Edward, of West Milford.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Minnie.
Brendan Moran
BUTLER — Services will be held for Brendan Terrance Moran, 33, of San Diego, Calif., who died on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008. He was a former resident of this borough.
Mr. Moran was a graduate student at the University of California, San Diego. He also was part of the Red Cross recovery effort in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina.
Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Home, Butler. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Butler.
Mr. Moran is survived by his mother, Coleen; his grandmother, Alice; his uncle, Gerard; and his partner, Megan Klimen.
He was predeceased by his grandfather, William.
Gladys Raimondi
WEST MILFORD — Services were held for Gladys A. Storms Raimondi, 87, of this township, who died on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008.
Born in Franklin, Mrs. Raimondi lived in the Haskell neighborhood of Wanaque before moving to West Milford in 1953. She was a receptionist for West Milford Township and the owner of Fireside Ceramics before retiring.
Arrangements were by Richards Funeral Home, West Milford.
Mrs. Raimondi is survived by her sons, Charles Baker of Milford, Pa., and Gary Baker of Hamburg; her daughters, Peggy Spellman of Butler, and Lisa Raimondi of Franklin; her brother, Alfred Storms, of Kinnelon; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Edith Storms; her brother, Judson Storms; and her sisters, Betty DeYoung and Kathleen Jones.
Benjamin Jurgensen
WEST MILFORD — Services were held for Benjamin Whitman Jurgensen, 22, of this township, who died on Monday, Sept. 22, 2008.
Born in Ridgewood, Mr. Jurgensen was a lifelong resident of West Milford. He was a junior at Centenary College, Hackettstown, where he was a member of the baseball team. Also, he was a member of the Connie Mack Baseball League, West Milford.
Services were Saturday at St. Joseph’s Church, West Milford, followed by interment at the church cemetery. Arrangements were by Richards Funeral Home, West Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to West Milford Connie Mack Baseball, c/o Bob Henry, P.O. Box 522, West Milford, NJ 07480.
Mr. Jurgensen is survived by his parents, Wayne and Carol; his brothers, Nicholas, Christopher, and Dustin; his sister, Lindsay; his maternal grandparents, James and Pauline Millosky, of North Carolina; and his paternal grandmother, Ethel Jurgensen, of Vernon.
Irene Morlini
BUTLER — Services were held for Irene Morlini, 90, of this borough, who died on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008.
Born in Hoboken, Mrs. Morlini lived in Paramus and Ridgewood before moving to Butler. She did Braille for the New Jersey Foundation for the Blind, contributing many books to the Library of Congress. Also, she was a volunteer at a Ridgewood hospital.
Services were Friday at St. Anthony R.C. Church, Butler, followed by burial at Flower Hill Cemetery, North Bergen. Arrangements were by Morrison Funeral Home, Butler.
Mrs. Morlini is survived by her daughters, Patricia Earls and Laurie Valdetara; her sons, Richard and Stephen; and six grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank; and her parents, Angelo and Teresa Bordogna.
Marjorie Dailey
WEST MILFORD — Services will be held for Marjorie Apelian Dailey, 93, of this township, who died on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008.
Born in Boston, Mass., Mrs. Dailey lived in Clifton and then in Wayne for 50 years before moving to West Milford five years ago. She was a department manager for W.T. Grant Co., Paterson, before retiring. Also, she was a 50-year member of United Methodist Church, Wayne, where she participated in Ruth Circle and the Golden Steppers.
Arrangements are by Minchin Funeral Home, Paterson. Donations may be sent to the United Methodist Church, 99 Parish Dr., Wayne, NJ 07470 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834.
Mrs. Dailey is survived by her daughter, Gail Faherty, of West Milford; her sister, Anna Metzger, of Montville; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, George; her son, George; her parents, Aroosiag and Nishan Apelian; and her sister, Rose Cody.
Czeslaw Baldyga
WANAQUE — Services were held for Czeslaw Baldyga, 59, of Garfield, who died on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008. He was the father of Krzysztof Baldyga of this community.
Services were Saturday at Shook Funeral Home, Clifton, followed by mass at Holy Rosary R.C. Church, Passaic. Interment was at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton.
Mr. Baldyga also is survived by his daughters, Katarzyna Pasquariello and Justyna Baldyga, both of Lake Hopatcong; his brother, Slawomir, of Bialograndy, Poland; his sister, Lucyna Stafinska, of Bialystok, Poland; and two grandchildren.
Mary Mardo
LINCOLN PARK — Services were held for Mary A. Mardo, 90, of Little Falls, who died on Monday, Sept. 22, 2008. She was the mother of Victor of this community.
Services were Thursday at Festa Memorial Funeral Home, Totowa, followed by mass at St. Paul’s R.C. Church, Prospect Park. Interment was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa.
Mrs. Mardo also is survived by her husband, Raymond; her other son, Raymond, of West Paterson; her daughters, Mary Ann McClintock of Franklin Lakes, and Virginia Novak of Little Falls; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Joseph Weixel
BLOOMINGDALE — Services were held for Joseph B. Weixel, 67, of Hawthorne, who died on Monday, Sept. 22, 2008. He was the father of Jonathan of this community.
Services were Thursday at the Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, Clifton. Please omit flowers.
Mr. Weixel also is survived by his other son, Joseph, of Syracuse, N.Y.; and his sister, Joan LaGreca, of Wayne.
Margaret Gwynne
WEST MILFORD — Services were held for Margaret A. Elliott Gwynne, 70, of Lords Valley, Pa., who died on Monday, Sept. 15, 2008. She was a former resident of this township.
Born in Des Moines, Iowa, Mrs. Gwynne moved to West Milford in 1975. Her career included many administrative posts in various area colleges, including Brookdale Community College, where she served as vice president. Later, she worked in private industry and in consulting. She was an active member of West Milford Presbyterian Church, serving as interim pastor and deacon as well.
Services were Thursday at West Milford Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Gwynne is survived by her husband, Gerald Balcar; her daughters, Jennifer Roccisano of Riverdale, and Jeannette Gwynne of Sparta; her stepson, Peter Balcar; her stepdaughters, Sherry Balcar and Joanne Balcar; her stepmother, Violette Elliott, of Des Moines; the father of her children, James Gwynne, of East Stroudsburg, Pa; her brother, William Elliott, of Longville, Minn.; a her granddaughter.
She was predeceased by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Olin Elliott; and her sister, Mary Brown.
