Minnie Campbell
BUTLER — Services will be held for Minnie A. Campbell, 77, of Vero Beach, Fla., who died on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008. She was a former resident of this borough.
Born in New York City, Mrs. Campbell lived in Butler for 36 years before moving to Vero Beach. She had worked for the Fortunoff department store in Wayne and Dillard’s department store, Vero Beach, before retiring. Also, she was a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach, and the Columbiettes Women’s Club, Butler.
Arrangements are by the Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home, Vero Beach. Donations may be sent to the Knights of Columbus, c/o St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, 7550 26th St., Vero Beach, Fla. 32966.
Mrs. Campbell is survived by her husband, Bill; her daughter, Eileen Harriet, of Tempe, Ariz.; her sons, Robert of Lenexa, Kan., Edward of State Road, N.C., and Glen of Vero Beach; her brother, David Erlichman, of Passaic; her sisters, Rebecca Martin of Clifton, and Fran Martin of Deerfield, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Joseph Van Dyke
BUTLER — Services will be held for Joseph C. “Poppy” Van Dyke, 76, of this borough, who died on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008.
Mr. Van Dyke was born in Waldwick. He was the manager of the Butler Guest House, Butler, and the maintenance manager for Scott Forseman, Oakland, for 13 years. Also, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Pompton Valley Christian Association, Butler, and a minister of visitation for the church as well.
Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Home, Butler. Burial will be at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Pompton Valley Christian Assembly, 19 W. Belleview Ave., Butler, NJ 07405.
Mr. Van Dyke is survived by his wife, the former Barbara Ann Jones; his daughter, Jo Ann Wisher; his brothers, George, Edward, and Howard; his sisters, Catherine Beesley and Stella Dubbeld; and a granddaughter.
He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Theresa; and his brothers, Ronald and Jack.
Mary Pierson
BUTLER — Services were held for Mary C. “Catherine” Pierson, 83, of this borough, who died on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008.
Born in Ringwood, Mrs. Pierson lived in Oak Ridge and Riverdale before moving to Butler. She worked for Artistic Weaving, Pompton Lakes, for 25 years. Also, she was an active member of Butler Senior Center.
Services were Monday at the Morrison Funeral Home, Butler, followed by burial at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Pierson is survived by her son, James; her daughter, Ann Van Dyk; and three grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd; and her parents, George and Edith McGrady.
Jacqueline Bauer
POMPTON LAKES — Services were held for Jacqueline James Bauer, 79, of this community, who died on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008.
Mrs. Bauer lived in Haledon before moving to Pompton Lakes. She was a homemaker. Also, she was a member of Pompton Reformed Church.
Services were Friday at Moore’s Home for Funerals, Wayne. Donations may be sent to the American Hospice Foundation, 2120 L St., Suite 200, Washington, D.C. 20037.
Mrs. Bauer is survived by her husband, Roland; her sons, Stephen and Kevin; her sister, Lois Trowborst; and three grandchildren.
Patricia Mallon
LINCOLN PARK — Services were held for Patricia Tiernan Mallon, 64, of Hawthorne, who died on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008. She was the mother of Kevin of this community.
Services were Saturday at the Santangelo Funeral Home, Lodi, followed by mass at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church, Hawthorne.
Mrs. Mallon also is survived by her other son, Ken, of Lodi; her sister, Anne Marie Cunningham; her brothers, William Tiernan and James Tiernan; and three grandchildren.
Marie Owens
POMPTON LAKES — Services were held for Marie A. Dox Owens, 79, of Wayne, who died on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008. She was a former resident of this community.
Mrs. Owens lived in Pompton Lakes before moving to Wayne 15 years ago. She was a homemaker.
Services were Saturday at Richards Funeral Home, Riverdale, followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Wayne Township Memorial First Aid Squad, P.O. Box 2004, Wayne, NJ 07474.
Mrs. Owens is survived by her son, Gary, of Stockholm; her brother, Matthew Dox, of Wayne; and two grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son, John; and her parents.
Miso Pezic
LINCOLN PARK — Services were held for Miso “Mike” Pezic, 34, of Wayne, who died on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008. He was a former resident of this community.
Born in Zagred, Croatia, Mr. Pezic came to the United States at the age of 3 and lived in Paterson and Lincoln Park before moving to Wayne in 1983. He was a supervisor for Pezo Construction Inc.
Services were Saturday at Keri Memorial Funeral Home, Lincoln Park, followed by mass at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, Lincoln Park. Interment was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa.
Mr. Pezic is survived by his parents, Ike and Ratka; and his brother, Tom.
Walter Weil
PEQUANNOCK — Services will be held for Walter G. Weil, 85, of the Pompton Plains neighborhood of this township, who died on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008.
Mr. Weil was born in Union City. He was a plant manager for Lustrelon Inc., Edgewater, before retiring in 1990. Also, he was active with the Upper Saddle River Town Counsel for eight years and a Score volunteer for 10 years.
Arrangements are by M. John Scanlan Home, Wayne.
Mr. Weil is survived by his wife, Angela; his sons, Peter and Paul; his daughter, Patrice; his sisters, Lenore Natale and Winnifred Laino; and three grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Emily.
Doris Vanish
KINNELON — Services were held for Doris Petrilak Vanish, 96, of Lakewood, who died on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008. She was the mother of Marian Klecha of this community.
Services were Monday at Shook Funeral Home, Clifton, followed by mass at Assumption of the Holy Virgin Orthodox Church, Clifton. Interment was at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton.
Mrs. Vanish also is survived by her other daughter, Vicki Hallock, of Brick; her brother, Andrew Petrilak, of Greenfield Township; six grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Peter; and her daughter, Irene “Renee” Wolchko.
