WEST MILFORD - Police are searching for the motorist who hit a Hewitt woman walking along East Shore Road on Sept. 15 at 2:14 p.m. The only description that the police have to go on is that it was a silver car that hit the woman.
According to police, Lee Gow, 45, was walking in the area of 561 East Shore Road when a passing vehicle struck her from behind. The passenger side mirror hit her left arm and ripped off of the vehicle, police said.
The only characteristic of the car that Gow could recall from the incident to tell Officer James Fulton was that it was silver in color.
Police are investigating the accident. Anyone who has any information can contact police at 973-728-2800.
Local authorities have reported two other accidents on East Shore Road this month alone. On Sept. 3, 62-year-old Ringwood resident James Zarcone was injured when he lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown from it.
Township resident Jay DeRaffele was killed when the motor vehicle that he was riding in struck a rock wall in the area of 760 East Shore Road around 1:45 a.m. on Sept. 5. Authorities are investigating whether the driver of the vehicle, 18-year-old township resident Avery Meyer, was intoxicated.
