RINGWOOD - Eat Local plans fall fete on Oct. 4
RINGWOOD - Saturday, Oct. 4 will be Eat Local's first ever Harvest Celebration Dinner to be held at Harvest at Greenwood Lake Restaurant. Award-winning chef and owner Frank Costantino has created an inspired five-course menu for the event, which is being hosted by Eat Local, a Ringwood-based non-profit organization and sponsor of the Ringwood Farmers’ Market.
In addition to the restaurant, Chef Frank and his wife Ilene also own and operate Jesse’s Blue Sky, a market gardening business in the town of Warwick, N.Y. Much of the evening’s produce will come from their market garden and the rest from area farmers.
Joining Chef Frank in the kitchen for the evening will be members of the 2006 New York State Student Culinary Team Champions, a team Chef Frank coached while teaching at a New York City culinary college. Harvest at Greenwood Lake is a modern American cuisine restaurant, featuring local and organic ingredients on its menu. It was a natural choice for Eat Local, whose mission is to promote local foods.
Rounding out the evening will be guest speaker Cheryl Rogowski of Rogowski Farm in Pine Island, N.Y. While the Eat Local event will take place under a tent on the restaurant grounds, Harvest at Greenwood Lake will be open as usual for lunch and dinner on that day. Tickets are $40 per person and must be purchased by Sept. 27. For information about the Eat Local event, call Mary at 973-831-7871. For information or reservations for the restaurant, call 845-595-1018.
