BUTLER - Saving the clock tower

(by Stephen Janoski - Staff Writer - September 02, 2008)

BUTLER - Borough residents wondering why the clock on High Street was put in a state of disrepair may be pleased to know that refurbishment is underway.

The clock, which has been undergoing aesthetic renovations such as sanding and painting, will be completed as soon as the final parts arrive.

“We’re replacing the motors and the faces of the clock. The parts are ordered, but it could be between six to eight weeks before they come in,” said Borough Administrator Jim Lampmann.

“Once the parts are in, it’ll be done within a week,” he said.

Lampmann went on to say that the Department of Public Works would be working on the project, which will cost the borough roughly $3,000 in total.
