BUTLER - The school district filled three vacancies for the 2008-09 school year when the Board of Education approved the appointments of three teachers at the Aug. 7 special meeting.

Jillian Lee was appointed as special education teacher at a salary of $47,375, while Rebecca Marcelliano was hired to teach art at a salary of $49,050. Maura Pisarczyk was also selected as a basic skills teacher at a salary of $47,875.

The teachers will all serve for the 2008-09 school year at Butler High School, pending certification and criminal history reviews.

The appointments take effect on Sept. 1 of this year, and the one-year contracts will run until June 30, 2009.

Interim Superintendent Elaine Baldwin said the district is nearly fully staffed for the coming school year, which will begin for teachers on Sept. 2. The start date for students is Sept. 3.
