Story Time
The library hosts Mom and Tot classes Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. for 4 and 5 year olds and on Tuesday and Wednesday from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. and on Wednesday evenings from 6:45 to 7:30 p.m. for 6 year olds and up.
Library hours
The Bloomingdale Free Public Library will be closed on Friday, July 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th. Any library materials due on these dates will actually be due on the following Monday. Friday hours will resume on Aug. 1st.
Craft Time
Drop-In Craft Time begins June 27 from 10 a.m. to noon. Just stop on Friday's and do puzzles, color, play with Pay-Doh. Mom can have time to browse for that great summer reading!
Butler
Bereavement Support
Lea Ellen Shupp, the author of "No One Hears Me Crying," leads a bereavement support group at the Butler Public Library on the first Tuesday of each month from 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Contact the library for more information at 973-838-3262. Petting Zoo
A petting zoo featuring a calf, rabbit, chickens, sheep, goats, miniature donkey and miniature Shetland pony will be at the library on July 2 at 3 p.m. All programs are free to Butler residents.
Intro to Yoga
Registered Yoga Instructor, Christy Naida of Highland Yoga will be presenting an introductory yoga class at Butler Public Library on July 9 from 7 to 8 p.m. This class is geared toward beginners, however all abilities and levels are welcome. World Language
The Kinnelon Public Library now has foreign language books on loan from the Newark Public Library. Come in and check out books in Chinese, German, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
ESL group

Donate Books
Why not clear out your book shelves and support the Kinnelon Public Library by donating hardcover or paperback fiction or non-fiction, children’s books, videos or books-on-tape in good condition? No magazines, textbooks, encyclopedia sets, Reader’s Digest Condensed or records, please. Bring it to the Kiel Avenue Firehouse (not the library), from July 24 to Aug. 17. Our annual book sale will be held from Aug. 22 to Aug. 25 (Friday, Saturday and Monday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kiel Avenue Firehouse, 103 Kiel Avenue in Kinnelon. Lincoln Park
Up-to-date
The Lincoln Park Library may not be the biggest in the county, but it has kept up with the latest and greatest, and offers special programs, up-to-date technology and an extensive collection of materials, including music CDs, audio books and DVD collections. Take advantage of what the library offers via the Web at lincolnparklibrary.org. Search and reserve books online, and if the local library doesn’t have it, staffers will search other libraries in the county and state.
Kids’ Programs
From mid-September through June, the library offers Children’s Story Time and more, with singing, finger puppets, DVDs, stories and crafts. The library’s Summer Reading Program runs from June to September, making reading a fun experience and providing continued education through the summer. The incentives include prizes, a petting zoo and a party to conclude the program. The library has worked with the schools and now offers the summer reading program’s required list of books.

Catch the bug!
The Pequannock Township Public Library announces its Summer Children's Program: "Catch The Reading Bug!" This summer, children 3 years of age and older are invited to stop by the library. You'll be assigned to one of the three Insect Clubs: the Tara Antula Club, the Aunt Hill Club or the Catie Pillar Club.

Catch the Bug
"Catch the Reading Bug" at the Pompton Lakes Public Library, June 23 to Aug. 15. The Summer Reading Program is open to young people entering kindergarten through eighth grade. Registration for the Summer Library Program begins on June 9. The reading club encourages young people to keep track of their summer reading time during the summer, with incentives to encourage further reading. Morning, afternoon and evening craft programs are provided each week. Games, contests and fun surprises round out the summer program. Andrew Fielding
Andrew Fielding, former radio personality and local author, will be discussing his recent book, "The Lucky Strike Papers," at the Pompton Lakes Public Library in June. Fielding’s book explores the early days of television between 1949 and 1952, when his mother Sue Bennett, was a singer performing on the popular program, "Your Hit Parade." Fielding began researching his book in the late 1970s and documents the information with many interviews from famous personalities including Merv Griffin, Fred Rogers of "Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood" and Arthur Penn, director of "Bonnie and Clyde." Plan to meet the author at the library to discuss his book on June 30. The discussion will take place in the second floor meeting room between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. The Pompton Lake Public Library is located at 333 Wanaque Avenue. Paws to Read
The Library’s Paws to Read program will kick off on June 27, at 11 a.m. when Luki and Mishka visit the library for a special story time. At that time, interested students may register for individual reading sessions with one of the dogs. Luki and Mishka will be reading companions who don’t judge or criticize, so children can gain self-confidence and improve their reading skills in a relaxed environment. Sessions will continue in the library’s Haff Community Room on Fridays, July 11, 18, and 25, and Aug. 1, 8, 15, and 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., by appointment only. Cheryl Gloss
Cheryl Gloss was born with a love for art and creative thought. Her studies included drawing, painting, color, some sculpture and ceramics. She is currently the assistant art director with Dentistry Today. A display of her work can be seen during library hours, Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays until 5 p.m. and Saturdays until 4 p.m. The Ringwood Public Library is located at 30 Cannici Drive and is fully accessible.
Reading Rainbow
"Reading Rainbow: Bridging the way from Kindergarten to First Grade," is a reading skills program to be held at the Ringwood Public Library beginning on June 24, at 10:30 a.m. This summer reading program is designed to help children entering first grade to review and strengthen their knowledge of reading, writing and thinking skills already acquired in kindergarten. A comfortable atmosphere will allow participants to have fun while completing age-appropriate tasks similar to those found in their kindergarten class. Registration is required for this free program, which is open to Ringwood students who have completed kindergarten and are going into first grade during the 2008-09 school year. Children must be accompanied by an adult who will stay during the class. The Reading Rainbow Club will continue on Tuesdays from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. through Aug. 19. Summer reading
Registration for the Ringwood Public Library’s summer session of story time will begin on June 2. Registration will be held during regular library hours for this free program. Summer Story Time will be held from July 8 until Aug. 28. Each class will meet once a week. Children must be 3 years old by July 10. Registration will continue until classes are filled. Development of a lifelong love of books, learning and libraries is the central focus of the story time program. Activities include storybooks, music, puppets, puzzles and arts and crafts. Pre-school readers
Pre-school Bookworms will catch the reading bug at the Ringwood Public Library on Thursday mornings this summer. Kathryn Grant and Lori Kane will present a six-week early literacy program, exploring bugs in stories, songs and activities with 3 to 5-year-old children. Both presenters have degrees in education and are parents of pre-school-age children. This program will take place the library’s Haff Community Room beginning on July 10, from 11 until 11:30 a.m. Classes will continue on July 17, 24, and 31, and Aug. 7, and Aug. 14. Infant Stories
Infant Stories with Lori will be presented at the Ringwood Public Library on, Wednesdays, June 18, and July 9, and 23, at 10:30 a.m. Children from birth through age 2 will share stories, songs and finger-plays with other young children and their caretakers. Suburban Satire
Join author Debra Galant, New Jersey’s leading lady of suburban satire at the Ringwood Public Library, on Thursday, June 19 as she discusses "Fear and Yoga in New Jersey," a book lampooning a group of politically-correct New Agers in North Jersey. Black Bear Program
Find out the essentials on our area’s black bear population on June 26 at 7:30 p.m. The presentation will cover information on mothers and cubs, bear sounds, what bears do for us, black bear diet, humans vs. bears, garbage problems, laws solutions and more. Lego Club
Ringwood Public Library will host a Lego Club this summer on Monday mornings from 10:30 until 11:45 a.m. beginning on July 7. The Lego Club is open to children at least 7 years of age, who are asked to bring their own Legos and their own imaginations. Karen Flores will give instruction to the Lego participants, leading them to base their Lego creations on simple machines. This instructional program will take place in the library’s Haff Community Room. Classes will continue on July 14, and 21, at the same time. Reading Club
A summer reading club called Catch the Reading Bug will kick off an exciting summer of activities at the Ringwood Public Library. The program will run from June 25 to September 3. Prizes will be awarded to students who read ten or more books over the summer. Ringwood students in pre-school through eighth grade are encouraged to participate by picking up their reading club logs at the library beginning June 25. The children’s librarian is hoping for volunteers of all ages to get involved. Do you have a skill, hobby or idea for a children’s program you would like to share? Book Discussion
Join us on June 30, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., for our monthly Book Discussion Group meeting. This month we will discuss "Middlesex" by Jeffrey Eugenides, which explores Calliope's adolescent discovery that she is a hermaphrodite, a situation with roots in her grandparents' desperate struggle for survival in the 1920s. On Monday, June 30, 7 -7:45p.m, for Kindergarten to 5th Grade, Michelle Jegge and Jean Luc, a trained companion poodle in the PAWS for People Program, will demonstrate dog grooming tips, plus the ABC's of animal safety.
Teen Programs
For Grades 6, 7 and 8, our theme this summer is "Metamorphosis @ The Library." Change your insides with good reads this summer, and lots of fun activities.

On Thursday, June 26, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., "Giant ants created from a radioactive accident!" See this classic black and white horror film, often credited for inspiring the film Alien. We'll watch the movie, munch on chocolate-covered ants (the less brave can have popcorn), and try to keep from shrieking!
Teen Volunteers
Teens age 11 and over are invited to volunteer at the Riverdale Library this summer. Teens help with office work, crafts, the garden, and organizing workspaces. You will be committing to two hours a week, regularly scheduled. If interested, call the library and register. We only have 12 spots for volunteers. Books for Babies
The Friends of the West Milford Township Library are donating Books for Babies kits to new and expectant parents living in West Milford. Part of a national literacy program supported by the Friends of the Library U.S.A., the kits acquaint parents of newborns with the important role they play in the development of their children’s language skills.
